Email Interview with Ken Sorceron, vocalist for Abigail Williams.

Hello, Who am I speaking with and what do you do in the band?
Hey, this is Ken the vocalist.

Can you give us a little history on Abigail Williams?
We just started a little over a year ago so there isn't much to tell yet.

You have been described as Black Metalcore, do you feel that this is an appropriate description of your bands sound and style?
Not really, because we don't hear the metalcore influence in our music at all. Most people just hear the name and assume we are metalcore. we scarcely use breakdowns in our songs and the minute we play a slightly chuggy riff we get the label. It's to the point where we hear that label so much that we don't even care anymore so screw it. If we are black metalcore then I guess we are black metalcore... whatever that is, ha.

What bands influenced you to play the style of music that you perform?
At the Gates, Emperor, Dark Funeral, Dimmu Borgir, Belphegor, Dark Tranquility, Carcass, and Morbid Angel just to name a few really...

How has the music scene treated you thus far? The bands and the fans?
Its been really kickass so far and its a huge surprise really. We have only played with a handful of bands really being so new but they have all been really cool so far. Opening for emperor was definitely a highlight early on. The people that come to the shows to see us are really cool as well.

How has touring been and how has it changed since you first started?
I love touring, I cant think of anything I'd rather do. At the start of this Dark funeral and Enslaved tour it was pretty intimidating to be supporting such amazing bands but we are on the last show of the tour today and things have definitely come along way for us.

When do you think that you will be putting out an official full length?
Probably at the latest September. We go into the studio as soon as we get home.

What bands have you guys been getting into lately?
On this tour I been listening to a lot of Dark Funeral and Enslaved every night, ha.

What are some bands that you would really like to tour with?
Shit I don’t know, Slayer?

I have to ask, Metallica or Megadeth?
I was really into Metallica when I was a kid but that’s not to say Megadeth didn’t have some kickass moments.

What is the music scene like in your hometown?
It's pretty shitty.

How do like working with Candlelight Records and their amazing roster of band?
It rules, nice people all the way around.

If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be?
Metallica in like 1991 or Pantera in the Far Beyond Driven days.

What are your big plans for this year?
We are recording a new album when we get home from this tour and then we are going to tour Europe and then the US for the rest of the year.

Those are all of the questions that I have for you, thank you so much for speaking with me today. Any last words?
Thanks for checking us out.
