blessthefall - His Last Walk (Science)

I’m not even going to lie. I just recently discovered blessthefall about a month ago after stumbling across their Myspace page and I was completely blown away. Last week I received the album His Last Walk and have not stopped listening to the metal assault that is blessthefall. Their debut album on Science Records is composed of six new tracks and tracks from their self titled EP. They come from the thriving Arizona scene that has produced bands like Scary Kids Scaring Kids and the Bled as late and blessthefall stand out amongst the best. Eleven tracks pure musical bliss. The album is started off with the chaotic A Message Unknown which shifts between ear piercing screams and subtle clean vocals. Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad, the second track (and best track in my opinion) sets the pace for the rest of the album with the well timed breakdowns and fast-as-fuck double bass only to be accompanied by a calm break and disastrous ending. The album has its softer side with tracks like With Eyes Wide Shut and the acoustic version of Rise Up. So far one of the most solid discs of 2007. Check the band out on tour as they are playing the entire Vans Warped Tour this summer on the Smartpunk stage. You won’t be disappointed.
