Beneath the Sky - What Demons Do To Saints (Victory)

One of Victory’s newest signings, Beneath the Sky are a breath of fresh air to the label, which has had some legal issues and lackluster releases as of late. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio of all places, Beneath the Sky are here to destroy you. Their unique mixture of deathcore with black metal elements will turn some heads. When I first put in “What Demons Do To Saints” I was blown away. The range of vocalist Joey Nelson is quite impressive with his ability to change up the highs and lows. The only drawback to the vocals is the clean singing that comes out of nowhere and just seems to be forced and way out place. The best part of Beneath the Sky just may be the fact that they have a keytar player. Matt Jones’ chilling keys add a dark vibe to the album that works perfectly. The rhythm section of bassist Nick Scarberry and drummer Brandon Sower are absolutely destructive. Keeping it brutal on guitar are Jeff Nelson and Chris Profitt. Their work stands out on tracks like “Goodfellas” and “The Glamour of Corruption”.  With the advertising Victory is capable of providing, scene kids will eat this record up like there is no tomorrow.  This is one of the most punishing records I have heard in quite some.  Everything about this album is perfect - minus the clean singing.  Kudos to Victory for signing Beneath the Sky.  Check them out if you're into bands like Carcass, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Bring Me The Horizon.
