Drop Dead, Gorgeous/Eighteen Visions/Bullet For My Valentine

This was Matt’s last show as a member of Tripod of Thought Zine and it was a good night. We started off by interviewing both Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Bullet for my Valentine before the show. Both went smooth and were fun to do.

The show started off with Drop Dead, Gorgeous and they were quite good. They started off pretty slowly as vocalist Danny stood there for the first two songs, but the rest of the band made up for it. They have absolutely no regard for their instruments. Their guitars were flying through the air. It was pretty nuts. They bring a lot of intensity to their live show. They played around thirty minutes and were able to get through fan favorites “Fashion Your Seatbelt” and “Dressed For Friend Requests”

Never before have I been so disinterested in seeing a band play live. I had absolutely no desire to see Eighteen Visions. They are no longer the same band I knew and loved. The entire set was comprised of singer James Hart going back and forth and squatting on each side of the stage and bassist Mick licking the bass. Their new material is terrible and translates bad live too. They now play generic radio rock as opposed to playing the intense metal core that was “Until the Ink Runs Out”. They are taking the Avenged Sevenfold approach, except A7X are still good.

Having missed them last time they were here I knew that I had to see Bullet For My Valentine before they blow up. By this time next year they will be huge. They deserve every bit of success they come across. Not only are they fantastic on cd, they have a great live show to back it up. They came out and just tore the place apart. Running through hits like “4 Words To Choke Upon and “Tears Don’t Fall”. They played absolutely flawlessly and sounded as clear as could be. The drumming was as tight as could be, the guitar work was absolutely phenomenal, and the vocals were right on track. From Matt’s screams to the low growls, everything was perfect.

The night was good, except for Eighteen Visions. Just because I didn’t get into their set doesn’t mean other people didn’t. If you want to hear good Eighteen Visions go listen to “Until the Ink Runs Out”. Also do yourself a favor and go check out the latest releases from Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Bullet For My Valentine.
