Cornerstone Festival - Orlando,
Florida
Cornerstone is a Christian music festival held both in Florida and Illinois. The
latter happens in July and is several
days longer than the Florida event. Due to the fact that I have done so much
traveling in the past week, I didn’t
check out as many bands as I would have liked.
I checked out a small band called One Last Rose. These kids couldn’t have been
older than 17 but they were good. For such a young band, they were really able to get the crowd going. There was a
lot of hardcore dancing going on. They played a good mix of metalcore with some deep growls. Check them out on
Myspace.
I had been sitting around for a few hours waiting for Across Five Aprils to play
but they were worth the wait. They
played a couple new songs off of their upcoming cd coming out July 11th on
Indianola Records. They were brutal.
They have breakdowns in all the right spots. They are going to big, seeing as
hardcore is on the rise.
I love Haste the Day. Simple as that. Mike(bassist) is the coolest, most down to
earth guy I have ever met. I
wasn’t able to get on stage for photos, or even between the stage and crowd, but
I did get some really good pictures. I was able to talk with Mike for a second before the set and it was good talking
to him again. They played an amazing set. They played “American Love”, which they didn’t play on their last
tour with Bleeding Through. The energy these guys have is great. They truly love what they do, and I truly love
seeing them play.
I only saw one band on the second day and it was Underoath. It was the second
time I had seen them in a week.
They are nuts. They played a few new songs off of their upcoming cd and they
sounded fantastic. It is a lot heavier
than “They’re Only Chasing Safety”. It’s more like the material from “The
Changing of Times”. Pick up their new
cd when it comes out this summer.
