Haste The Day - Dreamer (Solid State)
Following up their third full length Pressure The Hinges, Haste The Day are
back with their fourth full length and second with vocalist Stephen Keech.
Pressure The Hinges saw the band fall from being on top of the metalcore
world with Jimmy Ryan to being stuck into the mediocracy that is now
metalcore. Dreamer is much more solid and enjoyable than Pressure The
Hinges, it just doesn't make that leap to get them back to the top, The
album is full of catchy hooks, pit worthy breakdowns, and plenty of Jesus
praising; It's just that all of it is very predictable. Keech's vocals
improved on this album tenfold, as it seems he has finally found his place
in the band. The musicianship is tight, and the production is smooth, but
that should be expected with Haste The Day and their label (Solid State).
The track Invoke Reform stands out above the rest of the tracks for the
slick guitar work and the strongest vocal effort on the album. The band
rerecorded the song Autumn from their "That They May Know You" EP and could
have easily been left off this record to keep the original in it's classic
form. Although the album is miles ahead of Pressure The Hinges, and the guys
in Haste the Day being some of the nicest people in the industry, I don't
see this album staying on many playlists.
