Escape the Fate- Dying is your Latest Fashion (Epitaph)

Well, well. Escape the Fate finally came out with their full length album, and I would have to say that I really like it. Yes, I have to admit that I truly do "enjoy" this album, and it might come as a surprise that I say this as I explain the new disc, but I REALLY do enjoy this c.d. very much so.

A couple of months ago I came across this 5-piece as a result of seeing something on Myspace (yeah, pretty f'n generic, but I go on and I look) and totally enjoyed the kick ass E.P. that I ended up downloading. Seriously I listened to their first couple of songs for a good couple of weeks, almost every single day. What can I say, It was extremely catchy, kinda rock-esque metalcore. Super catchy clean singing choruses, Intricate guitar riffs, metal breakdowns, double bass kicks, and supreme Death growls...Basically this E.P. had it all, and I immediately fell in love.

Hence, my further awaiting amazing of a complete full length by this extremely young band. Basically, after getting this E.P. I had found out that they got signed to a major label and would be putting out a full length very soon. Well, I whole heartedly awaited the upcoming release with promises of an exclusive preview, but it fell short, and I had never received a copy of this album. That's alright considering the amount of music that I receive every month that I would review.

But finally I got this album the other day, and was basically floored. Any brutality that you thought this band had before is completely lost on this new album. But seriously, this is not a bad thing in any matter. The few tracks on this disc that portrays anything "Hard" are cut from the E.P. and are added to this album as new songs. That’s fine, considering all of the songs here flow together nicely Every track is so insanely catchy and feeling oriented, that you cant help but to listen to over, and over again. Although the most memorable tracks are the ones that made the cuts from the first c.d., you would have never known that if it was the first time hearing this.

That being said, the best song on this album has to be "The Guillotine" It is so unique in every possible way that any song can do so. It is extremely melodic, catchy, and brutal at all times that it makes you think if their is a more perfect song. I swear that I can listen to this track over and over again.

Yes, I do wish that their was a little more brutality on this album. How can I not wish for this, my true passion is "Metal" but at the same time, how can I bash a band for doing something very good, that they truly believe in? I can't, and neither can you. Pick up this c.d. today, and truly believe in what a diehard musician wants it's listeners to believe in...and that is THEM. They make music, to make music yours...

Listen or Die (trademarked by your future music deity)
