Gwen Stacy - The Life I Know (Ferret)
Before getting this release I hadn’t really heard to much about Gwen Stacy,
one of Ferret Records newest signings. Because of that I went into listening
this album with no expectations and I was pleasantly surprised with the end
result. The Life I Know is eleven new tracks and one old track (Gone
Fishing, See You in a Year). Right off the bat this album draws you in with
The Path To Certainty which has both screaming and clean vocals, and a
breakdown that will open any pit. For the kids who love to dance, there are
a lot of well crafted breakdowns and two stepping beats to throw down to.
Standout tracks tracks are What Will Happen If I Hit Enter and the seven
minute Sleeping In The Train Yard which reminds me of Life In Your Way. The
lyrical content on The Life I Know focuses their faith as Christians but
never seams like they are preaching. For an album I knew nothing about this
took me by surprise. I was expecting another generic Christian metalcore
album (I’m looking at you Haste the Day) but this is far from it. Give this
a shot with an open mind and you will enjoy it.
