A Day To Remember - Homesick (Victory)

When A Day To Remember told everyone to "Mark my words, we're taking over the world" on 2007's For Those Who Have Heart, they meant it. The Ocala, Florida group is back with their third full length, Homesick, and take their pop-mosh to a whole new level. While For Those Who Have Heart was quite successful and exposed the band to a whole new fan base, Homesick takes every element of that album and improves it tenfold. With more complex and structured instrumentals the music it faster and more poppy while being heavier than anything the band has done previously. Vocalist Jeremy McKinnon's vocals are one of the most notable improvements on Homesick. His transition from clean singing to screaming no longer seems forced and has lyrically matured from FTHHH. There are breakdowns-a-plenty on Homesick and several guest vocals including Mike Hranica (The Devil Wears Prada), Sierra Kusterbeck (VersaEmerge) who will have you singing "La La La" on the track If It Means A Lot To You, and the pissed of vocals of Vincent Bennett (The Acacia Strain). Working with Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory) was a move in the right direction for the band and you can definitely hear some of the NFG influence on this album. Homesick will take A Day To Remember to the next level and will probably have some major labels knocking on their doors and deservedly so.
