Impending Doom - The Serpent Servant (Facedown)

Impending Doom are back with The Serpent Servant, their follow up to 2007's Nailed. Dead. Risen. on Facedown Records. Not a whole lot has changed over the past two years, but The Serpent Servant runs circles around Nailed. Dead. Risen. The most noticeable and biggest improvement are the vocals. Brook Reeves vocals have gone from almost completely indecipherable to more understandable but still delivered in an angry, harsh manner. Like most albums in the deathcore genre, The Serpent Servant is full of blast beats and breakdowns, but never getting boring and repetitive. Lyrically the band don't shy away from their love for Jesus Christ and their views on religion, which are quite brutal. The title track to the album displays that perfectly. The album never lets up from the opening track When Waters Run Deep to the closing of the album with Beginnings. Impending Dooms bring the worship on The Serpent Servant and they bring it heavy.
