Interview with Joe Kamienski, Guitarist/Vocals for InfernalTruth

First off could you state your name and what you do in
 the band?

My name is Joe Kamienski and I am the lead
 vocalist/rhythm guitarist in the band.

What is the significance to your name Infernal Truth?
Where did you come up with it?

The name came to me when I was thinking what kind of
message I want to put across. When I write my lyrics,
they all have a meaning and tell a story. During the
formation of our band all I would write about is what
we all don't want to hear about. Something that we
prefer to remain excluded from so we don't have to see
how much it may be hurting us. So I came up with
Infernal Truth. We to the audience what we feel that
occurs everyday and should be reiterated despite the
fact that we've heard it enough.

How did everyone in the band meet?

I was friends with our other guitarist Federico
Cicchino in 8th grade, and he was learning to play
guitar. While watching him, it influenced me to start
playing, so I started my freshmen year in high school.
During my sophomore year, I was quickly learning many
good techniques on the guitar and was picked up by
Matt Slamowitz, Dan Floyd, and Sean Ceci in the band
Disposable Heros. We played screamo mainly, but the
band had a general lack of focus and conflicting
interests. Over that summer, Fed was now out of his
band, Intake, and I talked to him about forming a
band. I then told my old bassist, Dan, about the idea
of a metal band and he was definitely interested. All
we needed was a drummer, so Dan pulled Matt aboard,
and now we are still here.

So far, who has been your favorite band to play with?

It would definitely have to be Divinity Destroyed.
They are an extremely talented band and they are all
great guys to be around. No matter how down you are
feeling, you can't help but laugh and smile when
you're around them. Their degree of musicianship is
also very superior to the majority of the other bands
 we've played with.

You are all pretty young, when did you start to play
 an instrument?

As previously noted, I started playing guitar my
freshmen year of high school, I'm now a senior. My
other guitarist started in 8th grade and our other
 members started around then also.

A lot of your influences are older metal bands, how
 has that influenced your sound?

It's had us incorporate a lot of solos and leads. We
have also used a lot of power riffs and some other
thrash riffs, but we do throw in some new school riffs
 into the mix.

 Metallica or Megadeth? Then why?

Metallica because they are just classic. We have
messed around and played their songs at practice, and
they just really have paved the way for modern metal
 music.

What has been the best show that you've played so far?

It is really hard because I liked so many. But maybe
our show at the Stone Pony because it was just really
 good and fun.

Anyone in school, high school or college?

We all attend Lawrence High School in New Jersey. Fed
and I are seniors and Dan and Matt are juniors.

Do you have any pre show rituals?

We've actually been trying to start one, but nothing
 has caught on yet.

If you could play with any 3 bands, past or present,
 who would they be?

That's extremely tough, but I'd choose to play with In
 Flames, Killswitch Engage, and Trivium.

Have any labels shown any interest?

Some independent labels have, but would like to see us
promote more, which we are working on. But as of right
now its not about that, it's just about having a great
 show.

 Favorite Song to play live?

The Tragedy of an Unsound Mind because a good amount
of people actually know that song and sing along, and
 that feels good.

How far do you see this band going in the future?

Personally, I don't really like to think about the
future. We'll just take every show how it comes and
 just have a kickass time.

What is your main objective as musicians?

To strive for perfection and to really focus on what
we're playing, and to make sure it is melodic and not
 bland.
