KillWhitneyDead- Nothing More, Nothing Less & Hell to Pay (Tribunal)
I have known about KWD for several years now, but it wasn't until about a
year ago that I actually started listening to them. At this point I realized
what a dumbass I had been for neglecting to look into them any further, for
they had to be one of the most entertaining extreme metal acts that I had
ever heard. I mean, they are a band that is actually fun to listen to,
despite being the genre of music that i listen to most often, the way their
song structure is, and their genius use of samples, puts them above most
bands around today.
So here we have 2 new albums, and Im reviewing them together because it was
all recorded during the same time, and could have been just one 25 track
album. Seriously though, these albums are nothing more, nothing less (LOL)
than anything that KWD has ever done. They are the same great band that they
have been since they started. You absolutely know what to expect. Thick
chunky riffs, great drumming and bass, and killer vocals from my homeboy
Matt (who also runs the kick ass label Tribunal in which KWD are on). The
samples are absolutely great, this band really knows how to incorporate
these at exactly the right time, literally making them a part of the music.
I especially love the Rocky samples on Hell to Pay. By the way, the last
track on Hell To Pay is absolutely brilliant, considering it is predominantly
samples with some sweet metal playing, plus on Nothing More Nothing Less
they do a sweet cover of Soft Cells "Tainted Love" .
Well it's hard to say if these are the best albums thus far, because they
all have been extremely great. The only thing I can say that makes these
better is that they are longer, so there is more kwd to enjoy. I have missed
them in concert the last time they have passed through the good ole' FL, but
I will not miss them again. Anyone down for a good fukking time will enjoy
these discs tremendously, I whole heartedly recommend picking up these
instant metal classics today.
