Light this City- Facing the Thousand (Prosthetic 2006)

This is the sophomore release from San Francisco's Bay area, ear grinding Light this City. This album just blows everything "metal" right out of the sky. Everything on this album is just pure metal bliss, from the amazing dual guitar work of Brian Forbes and Steve Hoffman, to the brutal as all hell drumming of Ben Murray, and the Ungodly screeching vocals of Laura Nichol. I swear this crazy chick screams like a fucking man, and I would put her up there against any shrieking, guttural male vocalist out there, and might possibly shut them the hell up. This album is very reminiscent of many Gothenburg style melodic death albums, not unlike At the Gates or In Flames, but this disc is of higher quality. It is very unique, and just a picture perfect release of anything that has come out of this style of music. The guitar work is so amazing blazing through death metal tracks, to straight up grind, and some killer guitar wizardry which will have you thinking Iron Maiden all the way, but even better. This album is straight up amazing, brutal and beautiful all together, any true fan of metal will love this, and cherish the shear beauty that is , Light this City.  After listening you will only want more.  Go out and spend the money that you don't have on this c.d. today, I promise you will not be disappointed.
