My Dying Bride- A Line of Deathless Kings

MDB is a band that has been thoroughly tested through the sands of time. Once again pushing forward with an immensely unique and spectacular release. I am at a loss for words at where to exactly begin. I first heard of, and listened to MDB approximately 8 years ago. At the time I was intensely into Death and Black metal, and was completely used to the ferocity of those style’s of music. So at first, I was completely unresponsive, to there slow, unrelenting style of Metallic Doom. But whoa, I was completely unready for this sort of sound at such a young age. After about 2 years, I took a listen to MDB again. This time it was after I heard one of their more catchy sounding songs, and I realized that I really did like them. "LIKE" being an understatement. The first album that I decided to purchase was Turn Loose the Swans, and I still feel this as being one of the most influential metal albums ever released. I remember not being able to stop listening. I remember after this, I traded some shitty mall metal C.D. to some Retard kid for a signed version of "Angel and the Dark River," Which I still value to these days. All I can really say, is that MDB is an amazing band, worth a lot more credit than they can possibly be given............

Which takes us to the new album by these Depressing Purveyors of Uncompromisable Doom Metallers. I just received this album two day’s ago straight from Candlelight Records, and I cannot possibly thank them enough for deciding to send this album to me before it is officially released. No...this is not something completely different, nor something that will surprise or shock the underground metal community. But what you will find here is My Dying Bride at their absolute best, newcomers to the scene might take that as this being the best release by the band, but to all of you old time believers, will know, what that means, is that this is a TRUE classic MDB album, one that will stand to hold up with everything that they have done to date.

Nothing about MDB has changed whatsoever. No, that is not a bad thing in anyway. What is good, does not need to be changed. And that is what we have here. The music is nothing short of Beautifully Depressing. Guitars bellow and dirge with the sounds of remorse and sorrow. Drums that beat to the sound of a broken and crushed heart. Key’s that remind you of darker times. And the all encompassing, deep and sorrowful vocals that so beautifully spill from the bowels of Aaron Stainthorpes throat. Nothing about this album is bad...Or good for that matter. The whole disc reminds you of sad times, but makes you feel them in a most positive way.

I'm sorry to say, that it is almost impossible to point out any song as a "Stand-Out" track, for everything on this disc is worthy of your full attention. Please, if you feel that you have a dreadful spirit, if you have an ear for extreme sorrow....Or, if you just plain out have a dire need to be satisfied by the sour sounds of a depressingly beautiful band, Pick this album up today...better yet, leave your house right now, and buy this C.D. right now.
