Neaera- Let the Tempest Come

Here we go again with a killer new release from Metal Blade records. Neaera are a talented young blackened deathcore band straight out of Germany. I say deathcore because they certainly are not straight up black/death metal, but definitely not metalcore or hardcore. They incorporate the best of both. This disc sticks more to the metal side of the spectrum than to the core side, brutal guitar licks, fast as fuck double bass, and some kick ass screeching and growling vocals. The guitars roll all over the place with sweet melodic riffs and shrieking chords, added with the thick chugga chugga breakdowns that will have you two stepping with the best. But striaght up ass kicking is what should be done when at a Neaera show, because their sound is straight up brutal. I feel that all around this is an outstanding album that has it all, and even though you wouldn't describe tham as catchy in the typical sense, they are catchy in a way that makes you want to keep listening to them. Get this c.d. if you like Metal...Period!
