Nights Like These - The Faithless (Victory)

Since when did metal bands start coming from Tennessee? They can keep coming if they are anywhere as talented as Nights Like These. This is probably the heaviest/grittiest CD that will be released on Victory for a long time. Everywhere I read, this disc gets compared to material by Between the Buried and Me yet this sounds nothing like Between the Buried and Me. Think more like The Red Chord. The guitar work on this CD is a plus. It is brutality mixed with a little southern tinge. The drumming is another thing that stands out. The constant double bass and occasional blast beat make this disc what it is. The vocals and length of the disc are the only downfalls to The Faithless. Every track seems to have the same vocal pattern and after a while every song starts to sound the same. That’s a problem when the best song on The Faithless only clocks in at 1:16 (Symphony For The Plague). Besides that, this is a solid, technical album that would be enjoyed by fans of bands like The Red Chord and Converge.
