One Nation Undivided Tour - The Avalon
- New York City
The second show we went to while I was up North. This was the first date of the One Nation Undivided Tour featuring Eyes of Fire, Bleed the Sky, Silent Civilian, God Forbid, and Ill Nino. We were supposed to interview
Bleed the Sky but for some reason tour managers don’t like to answer our calls or return messages. We were also unable to see Ill Nino as we had a train to catch back to Jersey.
Eyes of Fire opened the show and I was not impressed at all. They were a sludge/stoner metal and that’s just not what I’m into. They were pretty boring as well. Not a lot of movement. Just guys standing on stage playing
their instruments not trying to work the crowd.
Bleed the Sky played second and I enjoyed their set. They have a fast paced fist pumping sound. Unlike Eyes of Fire, they were able to get the crowd going. There were a lot of kids moshing and hardcore dancing. Their
presence was good and they seemed to be having a lot of fun. Expect to see a lot of these guys in the future.
Silent Civilian are led by former Spineshank front man Jonny Santos. I was pleasantly surprised as how good they were because I thought Spineshank were
terrible. Thrash metal is making a comeback and these guys will be in the
movement for a long time. The crowd was into them, they had good stage presence.
Definitely glad I got to see these guys.
I have seen God Forbid once before and it was on Ozzfest 2004. I love them. They
play some of the most brutal stuff you will ever hear. When they
came out the crowd went absolutely nuts. My only complaint was that they did not
play “Antihero”. Other than that, they were incredible. Driving
double bass, face melting solos, and brutal vocals. God Forbid are one of the
most talented metal bands you will ever hear and put on one of the best
shows you will ever see.
