Ronnie Day - The Album (The Militia Group)

The new Ronnie Day album “The Album” is nothing new in the Indie-Pop genre. The music sounds like they took Dashboard Confessional, The Rocket Summer, and Relient K, put them in a pan, and baked them at 350 for 25 minutes. Afterwards they added a pinch of originality and out pops Ronnie Day. Though it is fairly consistent with other bands in the genre, Ronnie Day is a little more fast paced and energetic (Hence the Rocket Summer comparison).

He uses the emotional pull of an acoustic guitar to capture teenage angst and love at its finest. With the strum of the guitar strings and the smooth vocals, he paves the way for beautiful lyrics, “I’m in love with you so I’ll keep breathing just so I can do everything you need me to” (from the track Living For Love).

For those who were looking for a new face in Indie-Pop, you may have just found it with Ronnie Day. His music conveys the emotions of many in just five minutes. Not only does he contain these emotions in song, he is also able to keep your attention and allow you to leave feeling vented and optimistic.
