First off, can you state your name and what you do in the band?
Lee Duck, and I play guitar for Sky Eats Airplane

How has the response been for the "Everything Perfect on the Wrong Day" cd been?
It has been better than I would have ever thought. It started off as an experiment of two guys in a bedroom making a cd all by themselves, and turned into a huge success! We wouldn’t be here with every single fan that has supported us!

When did you guys form and what was your goal?
We formed in early 2005, probably around January or February. We were both in high school and didn’t really think much more than playing local shows and having fun.

Until recently you were just a 2 piece, what made you decide to put together a full lineup?
The first deciding factor was that live, we weren’t a very strong band. It's just IMPOSSIBLE to put on a great live show with one guitarist and one vocalist. everything sounds thin and empty. The jump up to a 5 piece was the perfect step. Live drums just sound better than recorded drums on a laptop.

Who are the new members and how did you go about finding them?
Jerry Roush is our new vocalist, he flew down here from New York City after we absolutely loved a series of tryouts he did for the band. He is living with me in the meantime as we write new material and set up tours. Zack Ordway (guitar), Kenny Schick (drums), and Johno Erickson (bass) all came from the local band (in theory) and add a huge new dynamic to the band which will be heard in our new songs and recordings yet to be released.

What kind of changes do you foresee now that you are a full band?

In the way we sound, There is much more guitar work in the songs and the songs are structured a lot better than our old stuff we didn’t think through too much. In the way the band is, its a HUGE change. We went from driving a small 4 passenger car with a guitar amp, guitar case, backpack with a laptop in it, and maybe a box of merch with us in the front seats to a full 15-passenger van with 6-7 dudes packed in it and a trailer to hold all the stuff we need now live, such as drums, bass cabs, guitar heads, etc etc. Also, it's a lot funner with more guys in the band! =D

You are starting a tour extremely soon, what can the audience expect from you guys?
We believe that when people pay money to hear your music, musicians shouldn’t sit up on stage and talk the whole time. Our set is a full streaming of songs and transition material with music never stopping.  Other than that, we want people to feel that Sky Eats Airplane shows are unforgetable!

Where did you come up with the name for your band? and what does it mean to you?
You know, we hear this question all the time, and try as hard as we can to come up with a really crazy out of this world story to go with it, but honestly, it just sounded cool at the time so it stuck =D

You are currently in the studio recording a new c.d., what can we expect to hear, and are there gonna be any changes in your style or sound?
We are in the studio recording some demos to demonstrate the full band. They are all brand new songs. Our sound in a nutshell has stayed under the same premise as the old stuff, but has gained some technical guitar work, more epic singing parts, and better br00tal breakdowns. And yes, we still use lots of electronica synths and drums!!

Have you gotten any label offers yet? and what would be your ideal record label to work with?
We aren’t going to say anything unless its for sure!

What 3 bands would you most like to go on tour with, if you could choose any?

Well I think we are going on tour with some Rise Records band in June and July, but these are yet to be confirmed. It's with Emarosa I believe

What bands or artists influence your music the most?
We listen to everything from Swedish metal Meshuggah, to Icelandic ambient rock Sigur Ros. Everything is an influence. Yes, even rap and country!

How do you guys feel about all these big changes happening so quickly? New members, new songs being recorded, first real tour?
It's mind boggling, but we all are taking it very serious. I left college where I was studying engineering for two years, our Vocalist left New York City to live in redneck, Texas, and everyone is ready to quit their jobs to pursue their passion!

What does the future look like for SEA right now, things the fans might not know already?
We plan on releasing our next record as another full length, but other than that we just want to tour and meet as many people as we can!

Those are all the questions I have for you right now, thank you so much for your time!!! Any last words?

Thanks so much for the interview guys! And be sure to come out to a show on our Florida Tour May 25th-31st! We will be in all the major cities of Florida, so check out our myspace for the dates!
