Sirens Sister Interview
I recently did an interview with Zach Davidson, lead vocalist for Sirens Sister
(ex Vendetta Red). If you have not heard them I highly suggest you do so.
First off can you state
your name and what you do in the band?
I'm Zach. I sing
How long have you guys been a band?
We started in November so probably 7 months.
Where does the name Sirens Sister come from?
It's referential to the odyssey and the lure of music.
You recently opened up for Alice in Chains. How was that?
It was terrible. I had
absolutely no voice so it was like trying to have sex without a penis, but
they were very nice people and it was definitely an experience.
Who has been your favorite band to share the stage with?
Probably the
schoolyard heroes. Our two bands have played a lot of shows together and
they are always a great time.
How does it feel to be on the line up for this years Bumbershoot? Who do you
look forward to seeing there?
We are so happy and grateful to be on the roster this year. its right after
our record comes out and its going to be a really good opportunity for us to
get exposure. We are also excited to get to see so many good bands for free.
Your lyrics are amazing. What are some of your influences when it comes to
writing?
Thank you so much. I
love to play with words and I try to emulate some of my favorite authors and
poets, such as Kurt Vonnegut, William Burroughs, and William Shakespeare. I
think that having interesting and compelling lyrics is very important in
order to make a personal connection with your audience. It lends an air of
familiarity and empathy that music alone cant accomplish.
How is the recording process going so far?
We are having a great
time. Martin Feveyear is the man behind the board and he is giving us a
really good rate. We have to go in on his off hours in order to make it work
so its slow but very fulfilling.
When can we expect the cd to be released?
I think it should be coming out late August or early September.
You have dates scattered throughout the summer in Washington. Are there any
plans for a full US tour?
We are planning a west
coast tour this summer with American Eyes, and Schoolyard Heroes. That is
coming along. We really want to start touring the U.S. this fall for sure.
If you could play a show with any three artists, past or present, who would
they be?
Echo and the Bunny Men, Manic Street Preachers, and Nirvana. That would be
awesome.
What can someone who has never seen you live expect at one of your shows?
We have a really good
time playing so they should expect to have a lot of fun and dance and listen
and lose themselves in the music. Hopefully as our fan base grows so too
will the audience participation.
If you weren't in a band, what would you being as a career?
Well I would probably
try to win the lottery or become a real estate agent or something like that.
Can you describe your band mates in one word?
Brothers
What is the music scene in Washington like?
The scene up here is very eclectic and diverse. no matter what kind of music
you like, you can see a show every night of the week.
When you aren't on tour or recording what do you do for fun?
I court my girlfriend
and take her on dates, to the ocean for picnics or to the opera.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Do you have any last words for the
readers?
Thank you very much for loving us. We love you.
