Quiet Riot/Skid Row - State Theatre, St. Petersburg, FL 03-30-06

Who doesn’t love hair metal? Last night I found myself in St. Pete for Quiet Riot and Skid Row. It was quite the
show. I didn’t get there until one of the opening bands was three or four songs into their set, and I really didn’t
worry about it because they weren’t good. Neither was the second band who played, who was a local band from
Tampa.

The night didn’t really start until Quiet Riot finally took the stage. They were fantastic. They still have the energy, and well the tacky outfits that were there in the 80’s. For the most part, they played songs that were newer to the crowd there because I’m pretty sure I was the youngest person and the only one who knew the words to the songs.  I was probably the only one there that has actually heard post 1990 material. They closed out their performance by playing “Come on feel the noise” and then one more after that.

Skid Row are one of my favorite 80's metal bands of all time. They didn’t take the stage until about 11:30 and I
knew from there, I would not be staying for their entire set. I stayed until about 12:20, and they were nowhere near done. At least I got to hear “18 and Life”. The energy these guys still have is incredible. They will be touring
forever. Lead guitarist Snake wasn’t able to be there, but the fill in was just as good. Hopefully these guys come
back soon, and with a full line up.
