The Autumn Offering - Embrace the Gutter (Victory)

Embrace the Gutter, the latest release from Victory Records artist The Autumn Offering is a New Wave of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM) disc that should not be cast aside. This disc is the bastard child of everything that is European death/thrash metal, or summed up into one, At the Gates. That is in no way a bad thing though. The guitar work on this album is absolutely fantastic. Guitarists Tommy and Matt are all over the place from chugging riffs to timely solos will melt the face of any metal head. The vocals took a while to get used to but they accent this record well. The Autumn Offering could easily be compared to label mates Darkest Hour, but again, not a bad thing. Tracks that standout are “Decay”, “Embrace the Gutter”, and “The Final Cut” which includes some great keyboard work and doesn’t lose any intensity. It is a great closing track. Overall it is a very solid disc and should be looked at by any fans of trash or European metal.
