First off can you state your name and what you do
in the band?
I’m Taylor and I sing for The Confession.
How has this tour been?
It’s been fucking amazing. Touring with Megadeth has fucking been one of the
greatest honors. It’s crazy to be doing shows with them. The fact that I can
say I shared the stage with Megadeth is a fucking honor.
Requiem came out a few months ago. How has the
response been?
It’s been pretty good. I mean we aren’t selling a million records yet, but
we’re fucking trucking along and making fans the hard way, but I feel that’s
the way to do it.
How was it working with M. Shadows on the record?
It was actually really cool. We developed a friendship so it wasn’t all
work. It was fun and a very open experience. He wasn’t too constricting with
what we wanted to do. He was like, “Do what you want to do, I’m just the
producer”. It was a really good experience.
What is the typical writing process for you guys like?
Usually our two guitarists and our bassist who also writes guitar parts get
together and they’ll come up with a riff or something and then relay it to
me. I’ll come up with a melody and start writing lyrics. Then we bring it to
our drummer and then add bass to it.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Before I joined the band, I was one grade older than all of these dudes and
they all had this hardcore band. Nothing like we sound today, but the
straight up chug chug hardcore, and our guitarist Kevin just found the name.
I wish I had a cool back story to it, but that’s pretty much how it
happened.
How did you guys hook up with Science Records?
A friend of ours, Paul Gomez who is one of the owners of Record Collection.
Science is a smaller division of Record Collection. He fucking heard us and
came to a couple of our local shows. He liked us, came and talked with us,
and that’s basically how we got signed.
How do you feel the band has progressed from the
release of your EP to Requiem?
I think we have all grown musically. We’re all less scared and more inclined
to experiment with all of our musical tastes. We really don’t give a fuck if
we’re labeled metal or rock or emo. We don’t give a fuck what you want to
label us. We just want to do what we want to do. I think that is the biggest
way in which we’ve grown.
You have played on both Warped Tour and Taste of
Chaos. How was playing the festival circuit?
Taste of Chaos was no where near as hard as Warped Tour was. Warped Tour is
fucking rock summer camp. I’m sure Ozzfest and shit like that can be just as
grueling, but Warped Tour is definitely the hardest tour we have done. It
was really fun though.
You’re hitting the road with Avenged Sevenfold after
this. How do you expect that to go?
Any time we get to chill with those dudes it’s cool. They’re fucking rad to
see live. We’re stoked. I think it will go really well. I’d be lying if I
said we wouldn’t do well with Avenged Sevenfold crowds. We’re looking
forward to it. I think it’s going to be sick. There’s two other bands on
that tour as well. Operator, which is a new band that I haven’t heard and
Black Tide which is a younger group that is sort of a thrash band that just
played on Ozzfest. The singer is 14. It’s going to be cool to tour with
those fucking kids.
What can someone who has never seen you live expect at
one of your shows?
We just like to fucking rock dude. I would just say we go out there and rock
the fuck out and try to get people to enjoy it. It’s what we love doing. We
truly enjoy doing this.
If you could play a show with any three artists, past or present, who would
they be?
Oh fuck. It would be Maiden, Zeppelin, and Aerosmith. That’s just the shit.
Aerosmith especially for me as a lead singer. Steven Tyler is the fucking
shit. I could die after that.
This question is kind of biased as you’re touring with
them, but Metallica or Megadeth.
You know what. Fuck. That’s one where you’re fucked if you do, fucked if you
don’t. I would say that I am going to go the pussy route and say that I like
both bands equally for different reasons. But I enjoyed and liked Megadeth’s
music before touring with them, but after touring with them I have a whole
new level of respect. Both bands are fucking amazing and deserve the same
amount of credit. I know that’s the shitty out answer, but that’s what I’m
going to give you.
If you could fight anyone in the world who would it
be?
Oprah. I would knock that bitch out. She’s just too happy for me. She’s
always fucking smiling and giving away shit. I would fight Oprah dude. Fuck
that woman.
That’s all. Any last words for the fans and readers?
Go buy our fucking cd and hang out with us.
