First can you state your name and what you do in
the band.
Dan, I play the bass.
Can you give us a little background history on the
band? When did you all meet and start playing together?
The band's been around for about 3-4 years, but the early stages was under
another name. I didn't join the band til almost 2 years ago. Matt (vocals),
Mike, and Kevin are the only real original members who organized the band,
and we got a new drummer about a year and a half ago. From then on we
started getting shit together.
How did you guys hook up with Siege of Amida/Candlelight
Records?
Lotta networking between bands and our boys in Whitechapel had been working
something out with them so we just asked and they were immediately
interested.
Where does the name of the band come from?
Don't know. Some Japanese torture thing. I didn't make it up.
How do you feel about your album leaking back in
December?
Shit happens, as long as it's a positive result.
Your style seems to have changed a bit with less
gutturals/pig squeals. Is that something that you wanted to do or was it a
natural progression for the band?
He just stopped the inhale guttural stuff. It was something we wanted to
knock off. Sounds a lot better this way and you can actually understand him
now.
What can we expect with the new release?
More groove.
You’re heading over to Europe this summer. Will it be
your first time and what do you expect that to be like?
Yes, first time for all of us. I hope it's gonna be sweet.
What are your plans for after that?
Start school again and start writing all new material. Maybe get a demo out
before the summer's over.
Metallica or Megadeth?
Megadeth
What is the scene like in Long Island?
Not a big thing for death metal. All about old school hardcore, chants,
pile-ups and all that stuff.
What bands have you been rocking lately?
Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre, and other
brutal stuff.
If you could play a show with any three artists, past
or present, who would they be?
Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Beneath The Massacre. This is a hard question haha,
so many more.
Who does the bands artwork?
Our new cover art is being done by Toshihiro Egawa (Devourment, Internal
Suffering). His art is fresh and has a sick style to it we loved.
Do you guys have any pre show rituals?
Jerk off and smoke a blunt, drink a brew or somethin'.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Any
last words for the fans and readers?
We'll be touring US in the Summer with Whitechapel, Diskreet, and The Red
Death. We def. look forward to people coming out to our show and meeting
everyone. If you see us, come say whatup. We constantly write new jamz so
besides the new stuff on the album, we'll have new tunes for you to bounce
to on tour. Pz.
