Trenton Interviews

I (Nick), recently conducted interviews with Hudson, Florida rockers Trenton. I was able to speak with drummer Kyle and guitarist Aaron. These guys are truly amazing and everyone should give them a listen.

First, could you please say your name and what you do in Trenton.
My name is Aaron, and I am the secondary guitarist and bgv.

You guys have had some line up changes, how has that affected the band?
It affected the band in a negative way in the sense of being forced on a hiatus. But positively, we now have Brian Boudry on board. We probably would have never seen his beautiful face if it wasn't for us needing a bassist.

Who has been your favorite band to play with so far, local or not?
The Vow.

What does the name Trenton mean?
Well, for me and my brother Ryan, it is significant only because we vacation there once or twice per year. We also had a couple deaths in our extended family, and the funerals were in Trenton. Just sentimental I guess.

What is your favorite song to play live?
Bumblebee Tuna (That's what we call it, it's actually untitled right now.)

When can we expect a full length cd to come out?

If you had to classify yourself as a certain genre, what would it be?
Indie Rock (Some pop and ambient influence.)

As a band, who are some of your biggest influences?
Rush, Appleseed cast, Love Drug, The Honorary Title, Pinback, Death Cab for Cutie, Ester Drang, and much, much more.

Best show you have played and why?
Our most recent. We stayed on time better than we ever have.

Worst show you have played and why?
Neptune's a while back. Terrible sound, we messed up a lot.

Do you guys have any pre show rituals?
We pray sometimes, other than that. Nope.

Have any record labels shown any interest?
 None of worth thus far

First, could you please say your name and what you do in Trenton.
Kyle Harberts, Drummer

You guys have had some line up changes, how has that affected the band?
I think that it has done many things for us, all of them positive. It has given us the realization that things can change, and it is up to us to make the best of it. It has also made the original members closer, and more dedicated. When Brian came on board, we knew we had another family member and not another bassist.

Who has been your favorite band to play with so far, local or not?
That's a tough one. In all fairness, I can't really pick a favorite, but I can tell you that Tokyo Rose, Sullivan and The Fold were really cool guys. Great show, and good people.

Of local bands, I enjoy Tator Junktion, Providence and The Vow. These guys are all great, really nice.

What does the name Trenton mean?
It is only slightly more than a name to me. I know the story behind it, but Ryan and Aaron will have the details on this one.

What is your favorite song to play live?
Funny, because my favorite is still untitled. That question is a little unfair, since my favorite changes every so often.

When can we expect a full length cd to come out?
Well, as far as I know our first CD should be available some time this week. We are currently writing for our newest one, some of the songs are already on our set-list.

If you had to classify yourself as a certain genre, what would it be?
Ambient

As a band, who are some of your biggest influences?
My personal biggest is Neil Peart. I know that it sounds cliché I am the drummer, but he really taught me everything I know through his music. I never had any lessons, although I wish I had. Musically I enjoy Rush, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Boston, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, (time for the new stuff) Death Cab for Cutie, Lovedrug, Copeland, Armor For Sleep (first album) Pinback, Postal Service, MeWithoutYou, etc.

Best show you have played and why?
A recent show at Neptune Lounge because of the crowd and the other bands; Sullivan, Tokyo Rose, and The Fold.

Worst show you have played and why?
Probably Mayfest 04, because it was just so hot and the stage was enclosed with no air circulation.

Do you guys have any pre show rituals?
None that I would classify as a ritual, although we have been known to have a pre-show prayer from time-to-time.

Have any record labels shown any interest?
Other than local labels, and promoters promising things that they can't deliver, nope. We hope that professional attention will come soon, and feel that as long as we keep working hard, we will earn it.

I would just like to thank Trenton, and if you haven't heard them, check them out .
