Reading the press sheet for the new album by With Blood Comes Cleansing made me think “Awesome, another Christian metal core band”. Not that being Christian is a bad thing, it’s just a very over populated genre right now. When I finally sat down to listen to this I realized they weren’t just another Christian metal core band. There is way more substance to this band. They mix the elements of metal core and some brutal death metal. At times the guitar work will be melting your face and then punch you with a nice breakdown. The vocal range of singer Dean Atkinson is quite impressive with throaty screams to low growls and occasional pig squeal. There’s even a gang chant or two on this record. Drummer Matt Fidler would fit in right at home in any Death Metal band. The drumming is precise and clean. The double bass and blast beats are unforgettable. The only thing I can think of that would shy away potential listeners is the Christian theme to the lyrics and if you’re that ignorant that you won’t listen to a band because they sing about what they believe then I’m sure they don’t want fans like that anyways. Every track on here is amazing. Every track stands out and has something to contribute. In a quick summary, think the Black Dahlia Murder mixed in with a little hardcore and a love for Jesus. This is a solid release by Blood and Ink Records. Check it out and keep it metal.
